With high temperatures forecasted through the Labor Day weekend, we wanted to reach out regarding recommendations and measures our schools are taking to help ensure the safety of our students. We will be limiting outdoor activity across the District as appropriate and making accommodations during lunch and recess to ensure students have access to shade and/or space indoors.
District-sponsored outdoor athletic games and practices have been cancelled for Thursday, August 31, as well as Friday, September 1, with the exception of the Amador Valley HS Varsity Football game which has been moved to 8 PM. Please check in with your school site for more information.
Here are some quick reminders for staying cool and safe in the heat:
- Stay hydrated! Ensure your child stays hydrated at school by packing them bottled water.
- Wear lightweight, loose clothing to help stay cool.
- For more information about heat waves and precautions you can take at home, check out the Heat Wave advisory from Alameda County Public Health.
