The California Model Curriculum for Ethnic Studies includes learning activities involving themes such themes as identity, history and movement, systems of power, social movements and equity. The State recommends that the course explore the disciplines of African American Studies, Asian American & Pacific Islander Studies, Chicana/o/x and Litana/o/x as well as Native American Studies.
