Foothill High Honored as 2019 California Distinguished School

Foothill High School has gained statewide recognition as a 2019 California Distinguished School, the California Department of Education announced this week. Foothill was just one of 13 schools in Alameda County honored.

The California Distinguished Schools program recognizes outstanding school programs and practices. Schools are awarded for achieving exceptional student performance for two consecutive school years or closing the achievement gap between two school years.

“We are extremely proud to receive this statewide honor and look forward to celebrating with our Foothill community,” said Foothill Principal Sebastian Bull. “This recognition belongs to our amazing students, families and staff for always striving for excellence.”

This marks the fourth time Foothill has been honored as a California Distinguished School. Foothill was honored previously in 2005, 2001 and 1994.

“Congratulations to Foothill High School for this well-deserved recognition,” said Superintendent David Haglund. “Thank you to our amazing Foothill community for the effort and support that contributed to this distinction and continues to help our Falcons soar.”
