PUSD is thrilled to congratulate Theresa ‘Tessie’ Gonsalves, Harvest Park Middle School 8th grade Science/AVID Teacher and Intervention Specialist, as our 2019-2020 PUSD Teacher of the Year!
Ms. Gonsalves has served in our Pleasanton Unified School District community for nearly 22 years, with a majority her tenure spent making a difference at Harvest Park Middle School. She is involved in a number of school councils and committees that’s led her to be known as a “go to” resource for her department colleagues and across Harvest Park. Through her role as an Intervention Specialist at Harvest Park, Ms. Gonsalves has been integral in providing needed supports to ensure that our students have the tools and resources they need to be successful.
Here are what just a few of Ms. Gonsalves’ colleagues shared about her:
“Not only is she considered the “mama” of the science department, she is the one who everyone in the school turns to for help … She is viewed as someone who wholeheartedly upholds and supports any member of our HPMS family.”
“She makes us feel like a family. I knew immediately that I could go to her with any problem, academic or classroom-management related and get good ideas and solutions.”
“She continuously implements new technologies and best instructional practices to engage her students at high levels of rigor while providing support. She also takes challenges head-on with struggling students in the science opportunity program and her 8th-grade AVID class, providing structure and support to those that need it the most.”
“She is a team player who is always willing to step in and assume a leadership role. She keeps up on the latest innovations in technology, and her lessons reflect that.”
“Tessie does all of this with a smile and a twinkle in her eye! She is the first to offer her help to those who need it.”
