Community Members Invited to serve on Measure I1 Citizens Bond Oversight Committee

The Board of Trustees is inviting community members to apply to serve on the District’s
Citizens’ Oversight Committee (Committee), which was established as a result of at least 55
percent of voters in the District voting in favor of Measure I1 at the November 8, 2016 election.
Proposition 39 requires that such a committee be established if a school bond is passed pursuant
to a 55 percent (super-majority) approval.

Pursuant to Proposition 39, the general duties of the Committee are to:
  • Ensure Measure I1 funds are spent only on projects listed in Measure I1, and that no funds
are used for any other purpose, including teacher and administrator salaries and other
    school operating expenses.
  • Receive and review copies of the annual financial and performance audits with respect to
the bond projects as required by state law.
  • Provide information to the public concerning the expenditure of bond funds.
The Committee is required to meet at least annually, but will likely meet quarterly. For
more information, call Micaela Ochoa, or Janet Wolfinger, Business Services at (925)426-4307.
