PUSD Welcomes Ahmad Sheikholeslami as Assistant Superintendent of Business Services

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Ahmad Sheikholeslami as PUSD's new Assistant Superintendent of Business Services. 

Mr. Sheikholeslami brings over 20 years of experience in education and facilities planning and construction management. He comes to Pleasanton after serving the last 13 years with the Menlo Park City School District, most recently as the Chief Business and Operations Officer (CBO). As an educational leader, Mr. Sheikholeslami believes strongly in fostering positive culture and healthy working relationships across the District.   

“As a proven leader in fiscal stewardship and school construction planning and management, Ahmad Sheikholeslami will be an invaluable addition to the PUSD family,” said Superintendent David Haglund.  ‘We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Sheikholeslami, as we continue to move a number of critical facilities improvement projects forward while being strategic and thoughtful with the investments entrusted to us by our Pleasanton community through Measure I1 and strong fiscal stewardship of our state and federal funds.”

As CBO for Menlo Park, Mr. Sheikholeslami led for full fiscal transparency enhancing community engagement and trust in a time when the District experienced a 40% increase in enrollment and doubled its operating budget. He also oversaw the management of the District’s $140 million facility improvements, including the construction of new middle and elementary schools. Mr. Sheikholeslami started his career at Menlo Park City School District as the Director of Facility Planning and Construction in 2006, advancing to Director of Facilities and Operations in 2014 before being promoted to Chief Business and Operations Officer in 2014. 

“I am excited to be joining the team at the Pleasanton Unified School District in service of such an incredible and united community in support of its students and future generations,” said Mr. Sheikholeslami. “I look forward to engaging families, staff, students and the community at large to continue the critical work underway around the District’s strong financial stewardship and school facility improvement projects .” 

In addition to his time in public education, Mr. Sheikholeslami has five years experience serving school construction as a Construction Manager with Vanir Construction Management leading multi-million dollar projects for a suite of educational institutions including San Francisco Unified and Tamalpais Union High School District. Prior to his time in school construction, Mr. Sheikholeslami served as an Engineer for the Marin Municipal Water District and County Sanitation District of Los Angeles County. 

Mr. Sheikholeslami holds a Master of Science from UC Berkeley in Construction Engineering and Management as well as a Bachelor of Science from UC Davis in Civil Engineering.
