The Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) received clean reports with unmodified opinions for its 2019-20 fiscal year financial audit, as well as its Measure I1 performance and financial audits.
Conducted by Cossolias, Wilson, Dominguez, and Leavitt (CWDL), the audit reports were presented during the January 28th regular board meeting.
“This was an extraordinary year for so many reasons. With tremendous efficiency and grace, the Fiscal Services team and District enabled us to access all material needed electronically for our Interim and year-end audit for the first time in my 12 years.”
“I’m very pleased to report that for the 2019-20 year we are able to render the highest quality opinion that an audit firm can render, which is an unmodified opinion,” CWDL partner Ben Leavitt said during the meeting. “Based on the results of our procedures, these statements can absolutely be relied upon by the District, Board and by all of the district stakeholder entities,”.
This is the third straight year PUSD received a clean Measure I1 financial audit. PUSD also received a clean performance audit, meaning that the District’s use of Measure I1 funds were only invested in school facility projects approved by Pleasanton voters.
“I would just like to say congratulations to the staff and the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee. Their continued laser focus is showing our community that in fact we are honoring their vote and wishes with what they approved for Measure I1 and that the financial controls over our bond program are sound,” said President Joan Laursen. “I want to congratulate you all on a job well done.”
PUSD spent ~$14.5 million on Measure I1 projects in 2019-20. The funds covered extensive capital projects and school upgrades including the Lydiksen Elementary rebuild and modernization, with Phase 1 recently being completed, as well as new science classroom buildings at Foothill and Amador Valley High Schools.
