Trustees Hintzke and Arkin elected to California School Boards Association Leadership Committees

The Pleasanton Unified School District congratulates Board President Jamie Hintzke and Trustee Valerie Arkin for being selected to serve on leadership committees within the California School Boards Association (CSBA), an organization that serves elected officials in school districts and county offices of education across the state. Through recent CSBA elections, Hintzke was appointed by CSBA President, Chris Ungar to serve on the CSBA Legislative Committee and both Hintzke and Arkin were elected to serve on the association’s Region 7B (Alameda County) Delegate Assembly.

The CSBA legislative committee reviews and adopts positions on legislation affecting education. As a member of the legislative committee, Hintzke will work to formulate the association's positions on the most critical legislative proposals and resolutions on behalf of CSBA

"I am honored to be re-elected by my fellow School Board Trustees from our region of Alameda County to serve as a Delegate. It is a privilege to serve and the  role  deepens my knowledge of public education issues and governance of school boards," said Board President Hintzke.

With their election to the Delegate Assembly, Trustee Arkin and Hintzke will work to provide policy direction to the CSBA and to ensure that it is reflecting the interests of all California school districts and county offices of education.

"I am excited to continue my service as  a Delegate to CSBA and I thank my peers in my region for electing me again.  Being involved as a Delegate means that I represent Board members in giving direction regarding CSBA's mission and goals,” said Trustee Arkin. “Not only does this have direct impact to Schools Boards, but also, it enriches my role as a Board member for PUSD".

Trustees Hintzke and Arkin have served on the Pleasanton School Board since 2008 and assume a number of leadership roles on Pleasanton community committees. Trustee Hintzke serves on the City of Pleasanton Economic Vitality Committee and PUSD Audit Committee along with her new position on the CSBA legislative committee. Trustee Arkin serves on the City of Pleasanton Liaison Committee and Tri-Valley Special Education Local Plan Area (Tri Valley SELPA) and is an alternate on the Alameda County School Board Association (ACSBA), California Association of Large Suburban School Districts (CALSSD), and the City of Pleasanton Economic Vitality Committee.

“Congratulations to Board President Jamie Hintzke and Trustee Valerie Arkin on being selected to serve in these critical roles on behalf of our educators and students,” said Interim Superintendent Jim Hansen. “As school board members, they dedicate countless hours reviewing reports, attending meetings, and speaking with parents and members of the community to benefit all students. We are extremely grateful for their commitment as they take on these new leadership roles through CSBA.”
