A message from Superintendent David Haglund
Last evening at approximately 10:30 p.m., the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department responded to a fire at the Harvest Park Library. The LPFD’s response was swift, and they had the fire under control by 11:01 p.m. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The library building sustained significant damage, mostly to the roof and attic area. I was on site last evening along with a team of District Office staff and Pleasanton City Manager Nelson Fialho to collaborate with the LPFD. Staff returned this morning, as well, to expedite our remediation and repair efforts for the Harvest Park Library.
We have secured the area around the library and are asking individuals to refrain from visiting the school as a safety precaution.
We know that this is upsetting news - and will work diligently to make repairs to the library.
Thank you to the LPFD and all of our public safety partners for their swift response, the City of Pleasanton for their ongoing support and collaboration, and our District Office staff for their continued efforts related to the planning, remediation and repair of the Harvest Park Library.
