During their October 23 regular meeting, the Pleasanton Unified School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved a resolution formally designating October 24, 2018 as Unity Day and declaring support for the Bay Area United Against Hate Week, November 11 - 18, 2018.
Bay Area United Against Hate Week is a movement by Bay Area civic leaders, in response to the sharp rise in expressions of hate and intolerance, to empower local residents to take local action.
We know that education, compassion, and cooperation are key to unlocking understanding and embracing those differences that make use each unique and special.
Through this resolution, the Board and District leadership team reaffirmed our commitment to supporting our strength in diversity, as well as promoting inclusive practices that contribute to the success of our students and staff and build equitable communities for us all.
We are grateful to our families, students and staff for all that you do to support kindness, acceptance and inclusion in our schools and community.
