2020 Classified School Employee of the Year
PUSD congratulates Donna Henninger as its 2020 Classified Employee of the Year! While Donna’s official role is a High School Child Nutrition Specialist, she has stepped up for the majority of the year as a Production Supervisor. Donna has continued to serve as the lead for the grab n’ go service that is taking place at four locations during the COVID 19 school dismissals. Donna continues to be committed to feeding the children of PUSD.
“With each challenge, Donna smiled, and said ‘Let's give it a try’,” said Child Nutrition Services Coordinator Kelsey Perusse. “She rallied her team and got everyone excited about what was possible for the students.” “Donna’s low-key personality has allowed her to take on the new challenges in a positive manner”, said Child Nutrition Services Director Mary Fell.
When school was open, this meant new menu items like BBQ chicken, corn and toasted garlic bread for elementary students. For high school students, new menu items were offered featuring steel cut oatmeal, fresh baked bagels and chocolate muffins. The result lead to students entering the cafeteria and commenting on the smell of freshly baked breakfast items. Elementary students noted that “This BBQ sauce is sooo good!”
Donna’s leadership has created a work environment where team members feel welcome and find success. As part of the Child Nutrition Services commitment to support PUSD’s Career and Adult Education Internship program, Donna has mentored a number of adults with disabilities to help them develop valuable skills in the nutrition services field for career and for life. Her dedication to her work continues to go above and beyond, as one alumni of the program is now a permanent employee on Donna’s team at Amador Valley High School.
While we await instructions regarding the County and State Classified Employee Programs, please join us in congratulating Donna Henninger as our 2020 Classified School Employee of the Year! Thank you for your inspiring dedication to supporting our staff and feeding our students.
