2020-2021 Teacher of the Year
PUSD congratulates Josh Hill as our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year! Josh has served PUSD for nearly 12 years, currently as Foothill’s Biomedical teacher and Career Technical Education (CTE) Department Chair. He is known and beloved as an educational leader on the Foothill campus and in the region for his ability to create dynamic learning environments in his classroom and as a leader in CTE at Foothill and in the region.
Josh has been teaching Biomedical science since its inception as a career pathway at Foothill High School, which has flourished because of his ability to engage and inspire his students. He connects the community to the classroom by making connections with local companies or professionals to come into the classroom to talk with students about the biomedical science field and the variety of career pathways it offers to male and female students alike.
He has been integral in the push for numerous grants to support the expansion of CTE courses and Project Lead the Way (PLTW) programs at Foothill High School. He is currently working on a large grant through the California Department of Education to enhance Foothill’s new CTE classroom building, which will serve as a model learning space for the Tri-Valley. Josh has spent countless hours on the grant application and coordinating work with a team of teachers at Foothill in preparation for the new CTE classroom building.
Part of the team at Foothill that participates in the Trivalley Education Collaborative (TEC), Josh helps identify collaborative opportunities between Tri-Valley high schools and community colleges.
Josh will move on to the Alameda County Teacher of the Year Program, which typically takes place in the Fall. Please join us in extending a huge congratulations to our 2020-2021 Teacher of the Year, Josh Hill! Thank you, Josh, for your inspiring dedication to our students and community at large.
