This presentation is intended for parents and caregivers of students with special needs who want powerful and pragmatic tools to help their child succeed by managing the IEP (Individual Education Program) process. Topics to be covered include:

Creating quality IEP goals, and tracking student progressheartlogo
Finding accommodations that empower and promote independence
Collaborating successfully with staff in the IEP process
Promoting long-term success through IEP development and management

East Bay Innovations, with support from City of Pleasanton Presents:
Ramping Up for Independence
Planning for the Future: Housing/Living Options and Supported Employment

Please start your new year by joining us for a mini-series on transition for young adults (ages 14-25) with developmental disabilities and their parents. The presentations will allow parents to learn more about how to best prepare their young adults for employment and independent living for their life after high school and will allow students to interact with young adults with disabilities who are employed and others who are living in some form of independent living. Information given will help parents understand how to navigate some of these very confusing systems. Space is limited so please register quickly.

The Pleasanton PTA Council Special Needs Committee is comprised of a group of highly motivated volunteers, with representatives from each school and PUSD, who are committed to the quality education of children with special needs. Come share your ideas and offer your unique perspective as a special needs parent or educator. It does not take a great time commitment to make a difference. The committee meets one hour each month during the school season.
