Work Permits

A work permit is a document that students 14 to 17 years of age must obtain after they have been offered employment. Students younger than 14 are not eligible for work permits.

NOTE: A student's attendance and GPA need to be in good standing (2.0 or above GPA and 90% or above attendance rate) from the previous quarter in order for students to be issued a work permit.

New and improved process! Please drop off and pick up your work permits at your school site office. The district office will still process work permits in the summer.

Drop Off/Pick Up is at your school site.  Please turn in  your work permit at your school site office. You will receive an email when your work permit is complete.

 

 

Work Permit Procedure

  1. Students must have a job in order to get a work permit.
  2. Download and print the “STATEMENT OF INTENT TO EMPLOY A MINOR AND REQUEST FOR A WORK PERMIT” form, or ask your school site office if they can print one for you.
  3. The minor completes and signs the first section, including Social Security number. The parent or legal guardian completes and signs the second section. The employer completes and signs the third section, making sure they print their name and include the business phone number. The final section is completed by the school district.
  4. Bring the form back to your school site office or to the district office if during the summer. Emailed/scanned copies cannot be accepted.
  5. The student will receive an email indicating the work permit is ready to pick up. Please allow three business days for processing. Be prepared to show a photo ID and sign the work permit in front of the work permits official.

Important Notes

  • Please make sure the form is completely filled out; missing Social Security number, missing signatures and/or using an address that does not match Synergy will delay processing.
  • Pleasanton Unified School District may decline issuance of a work permit based on GPA (minimum 2.0 GPA) and or/attendance (minimum 90% attendance)
  • Entertainment Permits are also processed by the Pleasanton Unified School District Work Permits Official. Please bring all work/entertainment permit applications to the PUSD district office at 5758 W. Las Positas Blvd.
