Saturday Academy

Pleasanton Unified School District's Saturday Academy houses a variety of programs designed to provide focused, additional academic support to PUSD students. Classes are housed at Village High School and are by invitation only.

Dates

High School/Middle School Programs

Newcomer Program

This is a program designed to meet the needs of students in grades 6-12 with little English ability as well as limited or interrupted formal education. Students in this program build their ability to communicate in English as well as skills in ELA and Mathematics in both English and their home language.

Middle School Long Term English Learner Class

This is a program designed for students in grades 7 and 8 who have been enrolled in English Language Development classes in school for three years or longer. In this class, students will practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing through a variety of activities designed to build upon students’ skills in academic English so that they are more prepared to succeed in their classes during the school week and are more prepared to reclassify before High School.

High School Credit Recovery

This program is designed for students in high school to remediate credits in core subject areas for graduation/4 year college eligibility. Please see the parameters of the course below:

  • Maximum class size: 22
  • Edgenuity CR courses would serve as base level for the course
  • Mandatory in-person attendance required unless a student is directed to self isolate by a PUSD employee.
  • PUSD Credit Recovery Grading Scale in place:
    • A, B, C, D, NC
    • Students must maintain Adequate Academic Progress: 11% of the course must be completed per week

Elementary Programs

Elementary English Language Enrichment

Our youngest students will have the opportunity to engage through our English Language Enrichment program. This program is designed to meet the needs of our K-5 Emerging Bilingual students through fun and engaging lessons targeted at refining skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing in English.
