Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment or Intra-District Transfers (Transferring from one Pleasanton Unified school to another)
Per Administrative Regulation 5116.1: Intra-district Open Enrollment, our District has an open enrollment policy in which students can, if space is available, attend their school of choice. Transfers of current PUSD students from one school to another are allowed for various reasons, as listed in Board Policy 5116.1.
All requests must be completed by a parent/guardian and submitted from the parent/guardian's email on file.
Transfers have closed for the 2024-25 school year.
The window for the 2025-26 school year is open beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
For the 2025-26 school year, the following schools are considered “not at capacity” and are the school sites available for Open Enrollment Requests
PLEASE NOTE: A student must be enrolled in PUSD prior to completing an Open Enrollment Request. The priority open enrollment period for TK-K and all new students enrolling in PUSD opens on March 1, 2025.

- Alisal Elementary: Kindergarten & 4th grade only
- Donlon Elementary: Transitional Kindergarten & 5th grade only
- Hearst Elementary: Transitional Kindergarten & 3rd grade only
- Mohr Elementary: 1st & 4th grade only
- Valley View Elementary School: All grades open, except Transitional Kindergarten & 3rd grade
- Vintage Hills Elementary: 5th grade only
- Walnut Grove: 5th grade only
- Pleasanton Virtual Academy
Middle School(s)
- Pleasanton Middle School
- Pleasanton Virtual Academy
High School(s)
- Foothill High School

Open Enrollment Priority Dates for 2025-26 school year:
- Grades 1-12: Jan. 1-31, 2025
- Grades TK-K: March 1-31, 2025
- After the enrollment priorities have been applied in accordance with Board policy, if there are more requests for a particular school than there are spaces available, a random drawing shall be held from the applicant pool.
- A waiting list shall be established to indicate the order in which applicants may be accepted if openings occur during the year.
- Late applicants shall not be added to the waiting list for the current year but shall instead wait for a subsequent lottery.
Student Services began accepting open enrollment applications Jan. 1, 2025. All applications must be submitted through online submission. Responses to requests will come via email from Informed K12. Applications will be reviewed following the priority schedule below:
